English
In English this week we have studied a narrative poem called Walking With My Iguana by Brian Moses. Firstly we looked at the features of a narrative poem and a few other examples. Then we discussed how it was also a performance poem and listened to a performance of it, which 4B thoroughly enjoyed. After hearing a good example of a performance 4B set about planning their own. We then performed our the poem to each other. Some children added a beat, or claps or actions or sounds effects or even sang it. I was impressed with the confidence shown by every child. We then thought about how we could adapt the poem to make it our own. We changed the main animal and thought carefully about possible characteristics and actions of that animal and words to rhyme with it. On Thursday we performed our new version of the poem to each other. They were great! I look forward to displaying them around our classroom for more people to enjoy. |
Science
In science this week we carried out an investigation involving milk, food colouring and washing up liquid. In the lab, 4B followed the step by step instructions well and were amazed by the results. 4B then thought about what they would like to investigate next. We discussed how we could change the method or resources used to test of it made a difference. Next week, we will write a method explaining how we are going to test out our suggested research questions. | |
| TopicThis week we continued to study inventions that have changed the world. We looked closely at the development of cars over time and how they have drastically become more modern, safe and luxurious. After that we explored the invention of the hot air balloon. We looked at its inventors and first flights then studies how a hot air balloon lifts off the ground, stays in the air and changes direction. 4B are creating and explanation and information text using the research they have carried out. I look forward to reading the completed pieces of work. |
