It has been a busy week in 4E!
This week we started practicing for our class assembly. This will take place on Wednesday 4th February in the quiet garden. We hope to see you all there!
English
This week in English we began a new topic of persuasive writing. We started by identifying the features of persuasive letters and then went on to learn about facts and opinions, exaggerated claims and rhetorical questions. Today we finished planning our own persuasive letter to the Brazilian government about deforestation. We will write these next week.
Topic
This week in topic we have been learning about the urgent issue of deforestation. Did you know there are fewer rainforests a in the world than ever before? We have linked our topic learning with our English to persuade people about why this issue must be addressed.
Science
This week in science we have been learning about the function of the stem of a plant. We looked at a variety of stems and discussed their differences. Did you know a runner bean grows it's stem around another plant or a bamboo cane because it is not strong enough to support itself?
We conducted an experiment with celery and food colouring to observe how the water travels up the stem to the rest of the plant.
Dojo dynamo
Congratulations to Zayed for earning the most dojos this week!
