This week...
What have we been doing?
Mrs. Quinn and I have been really very proud of the children in 4G this week. We have really shown that we are settled into the class and are working hard.
At the start of the week, we reflected on our stories by reading the marked work and looking at the positives and improvements to be made next time. This is obviously an important process in order to learn and move forward. Then, within English we looked at Poetry – particularly the poet Christina Rossetti.
As a class we studied the language used in a variety of poems – powerful verbs, adjectives, similes and personification. We broke poems and evaluated how effective the language used was in order to 'create images' in our minds. In doing this, we are learning from poets in preparation for writing our own poetry next week.

Art Attack!"4G were extremely creative (and messy) artists this week as we explored natural paints! Mrs. Preeti took our children around the school to find natural materials we could use to paint – soil, leaves and flowers were used to excellent effect. Then, I had an fantastic day of learning – using items such as wild berries and other fruits to make our very own paintings. Check out the process in our slideshow!" Mrs. Quinn. Next weekHaving studied poets this week, we will performing poetry early in the week and then moving forwards to write our very own poetry based upon an element of the weather. Our poems will aim to include; similes, personification and powerful adverbs! Check out the video of the famous Michael Rosen, who performs poetry wonderfully well. This will no doubt help when we perform poetry next week. In Maths, our groups will continue to study number - focusing on addition and subtraction. | |
