This week
"This week, Mr. Powell and I were so proud of the effort of the children in producing home learning of such a high standard. The home learning was so informative that we used it as part of our guided reading - the children were able to view pieces of work produced by friends, learning from one another. I was certainly impressed with the enthusiasm shown. Thank you for your efforts 4G" Mrs. Quinn.
Seismologist visits 4G!
"When discussing how earthquakes happen on Sunday - Nazim mentioned that his father studied Seismology at University. Mr. Merad offered to visit 4G on Monday to share his knowledge on the structure of the earth, plate tectonics and earthquakes! It was a wonderful experience and the children enjoyed listening to Mr.Merad! Thank you Mr. Merad from all in 4G!" Mr. Powell |
In English this week, we used the knowledge shared through the class talk and resources provided to write an explanation text about earthquakes. The children impressed with their writing skills and the results were excellent. Maths - in maths this week we have been looking at division in Year 4 - looking at the relationship between multiplication and division initially before studying different method to divide (see home learning for videos). | "In Topic, our children have been so very artist this week. Early in the week we create our very own colour wheels - reminding ourselves how to mix paints and using language such as primary, secondary and tertiary within art. Following this we created art based upon 'Hot and Cold' colours. When completed - we will post pictures next week!" Mrs. Quinn. |
Next week
In English we will be looking at our explanation texts from this week and initially up leveling the work. In this way, we will be teaching the children that creating second and third drafts are important in the writing process. While in Maths, we will be continuing with division but moving on to simple fractions.
Star of the week
Well done Eugene for excellent effort this week in all that you have done. All of 4G are particularly proud of your explanation text that you completed independently - it included a clear structure, full sentences and diagrams to support your explanation. Great job!
